Orleans House Gallery invites young people to shape its new Youth Collective

Young people aged 14 to 17 in Twickenham and beyond are being invited to help shape the future of activities at Orleans House Gallery through a new free creative programme. The gallery is launching its first Youth Collective this October, giving young people an opportunity to explore art and culture while having a say in how the gallery engages with its audiences.

The programme is designed as a practical space for participants to develop ideas, experiment with creative activities, and contribute their own perspectives. Members will also get an insight into what happens behind the scenes at a cultural organisation and how young people can play a role in shaping its work.

The Youth Collective will meet fortnightly at Orleans House Gallery from Thursday 22 October 2026 until 25 February 2027.

There is no selection process, so anyone aged 14 to 17 who is interested in art, creativity, culture, or making a difference in their community can take part.

The programme is also intended to help participants build confidence, develop leadership skills and meet other young people with similar interests. For those considering a future in the arts and cultural sector, it could also provide an early look at the range of careers available beyond what audiences see in galleries.

The programme begins with a launch event at Orleans House Gallery on Thursday 22 October from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

Young people interested in joining can attend the event to meet the gallery team and participating artists, while taking part in creative activities and finding out more about the Youth Collective.

The programme is free and takes place at Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham.
