Gordon Murray to unveil new supercar at Monterey Car Week

British designer and engineer Gordon Murray is set to reveal a new supercar in California this week, as his specialist automotive division prepares to showcase its latest creation at Monterey Car Week.

The new model will make its global debut at The Quail on 14 August, where it will take centre stage on the Gordon Murray Special Vehicles display. The unveiling will be led by Professor Gordon Murray CBE alongside three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti MBE.

The announcement comes as the company builds on the success of its first Special Vehicles project, the S1 LM . Launched in 2025, just five examples of the ultra-exclusive V12 supercar were produced, each featuring a bespoke 4.3-litre engine developing 720 PS and a strong focus on keeping weight down.

Demand for the model has already pushed it into exceptional territory. An S1 LM sold at auction last year for $20.6 million, setting a record for a contemporary supercar. Gordon Murray Special Vehicles says every programme announced so far has been fully sold out.

The new car will not be the only major Gordon Murray model on display in California. The company is also bringing the Le Mans GTR, which first appeared at The Quail in 2025.

Meanwhile, the XP1 experimental prototype has since moved beyond its early testing phase and is now being used as a fully operational development vehicle. It has recently tackled the Goodwood Hill and made its dynamic debut at the Le Mans Classic in July.

The Le Mans GTR draws on Murray’s long-standing interest in longtail endurance racing and uses a high-revving Cosworth V12. Its design reflects the company’s continued emphasis on low weight, performance and direct driver involvement.

Several customer-owned Gordon Murray T.50 supercars will complete the display, giving visitors at Monterey Car Week the unusual chance to see multiple examples of the V12 model together.
