London Tube strikes to disrupt Circle, Piccadilly & Central line services in May and June

London commuters are being warned to prepare for disruption across parts of the Underground network as planned Tube strikes affect several major lines in May and June. The action is expected to hit the Circle line, Piccadilly line, the Metropolitan line between Baker Street and Aldgate, and part of the Central line between White City and Liverpool Street.

Other lines will continue running, although journeys across the network are likely to take longer during strike periods. The planned strike dates are Tuesday 19th to Wednesday 20th May, Thursday 21st to Friday 22nd May, Tuesday 16th June to Wednesday 17th June, and Thursday 18th June to Friday 19th June.

Each of the London tube strikes will run from midday until midday the following day, with disruption expected to continue afterwards while services return to normal. Passengers travelling on the affected days are likely to see mostly normal services early in the morning before disruption builds later in the day. After midday, some lines are expected to close early while reduced services continue into the evening.

The following mornings are expected to begin with delayed or reduced services before the network gradually returns to normal later in the day. The Elizabeth line, London Overground, DLR, buses and trams are all expected to continue operating during the strikes, although many routes are likely to be busier than usual as passengers look for alternative ways to travel.

Separate strike action is also planned on several Stagecoach bus routes operating from Bow Bus Garage between 5am on Friday 15 May and 5am on Saturday 16 May.

The affected routes are: 8, 25, 205, 425, N8, N25, and N205. TfL expects routes 25 and 425 to run close to normal for most of the strike period, while the N8 is expected to operate a reduced route between Hainault and Liverpool Street. Other affected bus routes may face delays and cancellations throughout the strike period.

Londoners are being encouraged to check live travel updates before setting off and allow extra time for journeys, particularly during busy commuter periods. TfL’s travel tools, including TfL Go and Journey Planner, are expected to help passengers plan alternative routes during the disruption.

Passengers travelling regularly across the capital may also have noticed wider efforts by TfL to improve reliability and passenger experience in recent months, including changes linked to staff attendance and operational performance.

Passengers travelling regularly across the capital may also have noticed wider efforts by TfL to improve reliability and reduce disruption linked to staffing and absence levels across the network. The disruption is also likely to affect families travelling with young children, particularly on busy interchange routes used by parents moving across central London.
