Eid on the Square returns to Trafalgar Square for 20th anniversary celebration
Eid on the Square is returning to Trafalgar Square on Saturday 30 May, with this year’s event marking 20 years since the celebration first arrived in central London.
The free public festival, organised with support from the Mayor of London’s office, will celebrate Eid al-Adha with live performances, food stalls, workshops and family activities across the square from noon until 6pm.
Hosted by radio presenter Nadia Ali and TikTok creator Juwayria Ghazali, the main stage programme includes performances from the London Arab Orchestra, the London Turkish Association Dance Group and Khaled Siddiq. Visitors will also be able to take part in activities across Trafalgar Square, including an immersive installation by Everyday Muslim, fencing workshops from Muslim Girls Fence and creative sessions inside the Alif New Beginnings Family Zone.
Food traders and market stalls will run throughout the day, alongside appearances from children’s characters Omar and Hana. The event is being delivered in partnership with the Eid Community Advisory Group and is sponsored by Muslim Aid, Remitly and British Muslim Trust.
Sadiq Khan said the event has spent two decades bringing together Londoners and visitors from different backgrounds while celebrating the contribution Muslim communities make to the capital.
The return of Eid on the Square comes shortly before Trafalgar Square hosts another major public event, with West End Live also set to return to the area in June. The event is one of several major public cultural celebrations supported by City Hall across London this year.
Further event details are available through the official Mayor of London website.
