Writing on 13 April, EyeOnLondon contributor Henry Scott-Irvine described the loss in personal terms, noting that Finbar’s father, Chris Sullivan, is known to many through his long involvement in London’s music and cultural life. Chris Sullivan is remembered for his work with Blue Rondo a la Turk, founding Soho’s WAG Club, and his continued presence on Portobello Radio and Soho Radio.
Scott-Irvine wrote of Finbar as someone with a clear sense of purpose, recalling that he “loved movies, and making films”, a direction he had already begun to follow as a student at the London Screen Academy.
His father described him as “a beautiful, lovely, outgoing, loving man. Just a groovy 21-year-old who loved movies, and making films.” He added that his son “didn’t drink, he didn’t smoke, he didn’t go out,” reflecting a life centred on his interests, family and close friendships.
Tributes from London’s creative community have followed. Friends at Portobello Radio wrote: “Our hearts go out to Chris and Leah Sullivan. We can’t imagine what hell they are going through. Finbar was a beautiful man with a fabulous life ahead of him. Rest in eternal power brother. You will be forever missed.”
The details of how Finbar spent that evening, quietly testing a new camera in one of London’s most familiar public spaces, have added to the sense of loss felt across those who knew him and those who have followed the case.
