Local artists bring more than 150 works to free Fulham exhibition

Residents will have the chance to see and buy work by local artists when the Society of Fulham Artists and Potters brings more than 150 pieces to Sands End this September. The free exhibition runs from 12 to 20 September at The Lodge within Sands End Arts and Community Centre, on Peterborough Road, with paintings, drawings, ceramics, glasswork, and sculpture spread across two floors.

Twenty-four artists are taking part, offering a broad mix of styles and subjects. The exhibition will include floral still lifes, landscapes, portraits and work inspired by travel, alongside three-dimensional pieces, and colourful glass art.

Among those exhibiting are oil, pastel and ink artist Anarkali Check, ceramicist Bali Edwards, portrait and plein air artist Martin Burrough and still life specialist Madeline Morrow.

The exhibition is also an opportunity for visitors to meet some of the artists themselves. A Meet the Artists session will take place on Saturday 19 September from 2pm to 5pm.

All of the artwork on display will be available to buy, giving visitors the opportunity to support artists working in the local community while potentially taking home an original piece.

The Society of Fulham Artists and Potters, known as SoFAP, has been supporting artists in the area since 1952. Its programme extends beyond exhibitions, with events and workshops held throughout the year.

“This exhibition of paintings, ceramics, glass art and more covers two floors inside the Lodge,” Rowena Vaughan, the society’s chair, said. “It’s free to visit, and all the work is for sale. Support local artists and find a piece of unique art that you will treasure.”

The society is also due to hold another exhibition at Fulham Library from 8 to 15 November.
