National Maritime Museum to celebrate Diwali with free All Together Now festival

The National Maritime Museum in Greenwich will celebrate Diwali on 7 November with a free festival bringing South Asian artists, performers, makers, and community organisations together for a full day of music, dance, storytelling, workshops, and family activities.

Curated by Mehala Ford, founder of COMMONGROUND& and Friday Sari Project, All Together Now explores how traditions are passed between generations while also being reshaped through contemporary creativity. The festival is now in its fourth year under Ford’s curation and forms part of Royal Museums Greenwich’s long-running programme of free Diwali celebrations.

A new feature for 2026 will be the Diwali Bazaar, giving visitors the chance to discover jewellery, clothing, prints, accessories, gifts and handmade products from South Asian designers, artists, independent businesses and Greenwich-based makers. The Museum will also feature artistic installations, including sustainable textile work by Button Masala and decorations made from recycled saris.

The programme will stretch across the Museum. Performances include Rajasthani folk dance and Gujarati Garba from Pooja Rajguru and her Folk Mandali, Bharatanatyam from Sweta Pandey, Punjabi dhol and dance from Eternal Taal, and Bhangra from Bhangra4Us. Kiran SKG will open the festival with a flute performance, while Nandita Shankardass and Welcome Movement® will present dance inspired by Diwali and the festival’s All Together Now theme.

Visitors can also take part in Rangoli art, lotus lantern making, block printing and sustainable textile workshops, alongside storytelling and puppet theatre based on the Ramayana. Talks will explore subjects including heritage, identity, belonging, food, clothing and the experiences of early South Asian women doctors.

The day will end with a lantern parade through Greenwich Park, accompanied by Eternal Taal’s dhol drummers. Visitors are invited to bring lanterns made during the workshops.

All Together Now takes place at the National Maritime Museum on 7 November 2026 from 10am to 5pm, with admission free.
