499P to defend Ferrari’s WEC title

Ferrari has unveiled the updated livery for the 499P which will race to defend the firm’s Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ world titles at the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) following an “unforgettable and already historic” 2025 campaign.

The updated livery features the FIA WEC laurels as “evocative symbols and an added source of motivation for the team as it strives for peak performance,” Ferrari said. The laurels are visible beneath the famous Shield with the iconic Prancing Horse on the cars’ front fenders. Number 50 499P will return to action with Antonion Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen at the wheel, while the number 51 car will be driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado, and Antonio Giovinazzi.

For 2026, the 499P livery “evolves while remaining true to its heritage,” as it continues to pay tribute to the 312P which dominated endurance racing until 1973, the final year Ferrari competed for overall honours before its return in 2023.

The car’s design came from Centro Stile Ferrari, and is finished predominantly in Rosso Scuderia, though the 2026 car will be in a new gloss version rather than matte. Both colour and finish are identical to the Scuderia Ferrari HP SF-26 Formula 1 World Championship single-seater.

“The unmistakable red, a symbol of the racing heritage of the company founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1947, is paired once more with Giallo Modena, the shade that defines the bodywork lines and, for 2026, places particular emphasis on the cockpit volumes,” the Italian company says.

The 499P boasts a hybrid powertrain that combines a mid-mounted twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric unit known as the Energy Recovery System (ERS) on the front axle. While the engine has “bespoke characteristics,” the V6 is derived from the motor found in some of its road cars. As the old saying goes, race on Sunday, sell on Monday.
