Bikehangars rolled out across Wandsworth

Wandsworth Council says it is “delivering a major boost to secure cycle parking” as it installs 112 new on-street bikehangars throughout the borough. The expansion, it says, “strengthens the fastest bikehangar rollout in London” and supports Wandsworth’s “wider ambition to make cycling safer, easier, and more accessible for residents.”

After a consultation period in late 2025 where residents that live near proposed sites for bikehangars were directly contacted, the first of the latest phase are being installed.

“Expanding secure cycle parking is a key part of our commitment to making it safer and easier for people to choose active travel in Wandsworth,” Jenny Yates, Cabinet Member for Transport, said. “These 112 new units will provide more convenient, reliable places for residents to store their bikes close to home.”

346 on-street and 61 estate bikehangars have been installed so far, giving residents “secure storage for their bikes.” Demand, says Wandsworth, “continues to grow” with the next phase aiming to “meet that need while encouraging more people to choose active travel.” A dozen have been installed on housing estates to ensure that residents all over Wandsworth have access to safe cycle parking.

Residents across Wandsworth can request a bikehangar to be installed near their home or workplace. All requests are reviewed with demand, location suitability, and feedback from neighbours being considered when future installations are being planned.
