Wandsworth has announced the Wandsworth Moves Together Grant, aimed at improving access to sport and physical activity across the borough. Applications are open with a focus on projects based on housing estates.

The Wandsworth Moves Together Grant offers “targeted funding to individuals, coaches, clubs, and community groups to deliver inclusive and sustainable activities across the borough,” the councils revealed in a press release. The fund is a key part of the Wandsworth Moves Together strategy, aiming to make sport and physical activity more accessible for all residents.

There are three types of grants available to apply for:

  • Sports Club and Community Organisation Grant: Offers up to 50% funding (maximum £2,500) for new programmes, coaching and club development. Priority will be given to projects that promote inclusion and reflect the borough’s diversity.
  • Coaches Bursary Grant: Provides up to 50% (maximum £500) towards the cost of recognised qualifications for coaches, officials, instructors and volunteers. Applicants must be affiliated with a local club or organisation and commit to volunteering in return.
  • Individual Athlete Grant: Supports young athletes (aged 21 and under, or 25 and under for para-athletes) competing at County level or above. Grants range from £250 to £1,000 to help cover training, equipment and competition costs.

“We want everyone in Wandsworth to have the opportunity to lead active, healthy lives regardless of age, background or ability,” Paul White, Cabinet Member for Environment, said.

“This grant fund is about breaking down barriers, supporting talent, offering new participation opportunities, improving leadership skills and enabling better participation environments. It’s here to help the people and organisations who make sport and physical activity happen in our communities. Whether you’re a young athlete, a grassroots coach, or a local club, we’re here to help you thrive.”
