Studio Egret West appointed to finish Battersea Riverside neighbourhood
Studio Egret West has been appointed as master planner and urban designer for the remaining half of the Riverside Neighbourhood by the Battersea Power Station Development Company. It has been appointed to “evolve” the original Rafael Viñoly “masterplan” for the final 16-acres, set to provide 3.2m square feet of residential, commercial, cultural, and leisure space.
The final phase of Battersea Power Station will connect to Nine Elms Park, a new 14-acre green space between Vauxhall and Nine Elms, concluding at Power Station Park, a six-acre riverfront.
Battersea Power Station was acquired by Malaysian investors in 2012, and has since been redeveloped to provide over 2,200 homes and 800,000 square feet of office space, along with 150 retail, leisure, and dining spaces, reopening to the public in 2022.
“Battersea Power Station is one of London’s most extraordinary regeneration stories and Studio Egret West is delighted to play a part in shaping its next chapter,” David West, founding director of Studio Egret West, said. “Our work on the remaining 50% of the neighbourhood will build on the site’s remarkable legacy and seek to extend its cultural, commercial and community significance at both local and London levels. ”
