Drains and gutter cleaning programme to helps 4,000 homes
A “major” drains gutter cleaning programme has helped 4,100 homes in Hammersmith & Fulham, with work being initially prioritised on estate blocks with “higher drainage and gutter issues,” according to the council.
The borough-wide drains and gutter cleaning programme is carried out by Hammersmith & Fulham Council and is “reducing the need for repairs and emergency callouts.” So far, the team has completed works on drainage systems and guttering for over 4,100 council homes.
Deep drain cleaning has removed built-up oil, fat, and grease from estate sewage systems. This has reduced the risk of future blockages and problems in residents’ homes. High-powered vacuums has been employed and helped prevent potential water damage to buildings and homes.
The work is part of Hammersmith & Fulham’s “extensive homes improvement programme,” with the latest analysis showing that 11,839 (or 99%) of council homes in the borough meet the government’s Decent Homes Standard, ensuring homes are “safe and meet health and safety regulations.” Works on the remaining properties will be underway this year.
Estates where works have been carried out include White City, Fulham Court, Woodmans Mews, Clem Attlee Court, Lytton, Rosewood Square, Askham Court, and Sulivan Court. Over the coming months, the team is continuing to complete the drains and gutter clearing works across the remaining estates and blocks, with works also being planned for street properties.
