Safer Neighbourhood Hub to help in Roehampton and Putney

A new Safer Neighbourhood touchdown space has opened in Roehampton, aiming to enhance the visible police presence in Roehampton and Putney. This initiative, launched on 11th April 2025, is a collaborative effort between Wandsworth Council and the Metropolitan Police, providing a dedicated hub for officers to work more closely with the community.

The facility is part of the Alton Renewal Plan, which focuses on improving community safety and quality of life in the area. By offering a local base for police and community safety officers, the council seeks to deter crime and respond more effectively to residents’ concerns.

Graeme Henderson, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Community Safety, stated, “This new touchdown space will help with the visible police presence which the community in Roehampton have been asking for. This is an important investment into Alton.”

Inspector Steve Burke of the Wandsworth Neighbourhood Team added, “Having a dedicated space in the heart of the community will not only enable us to increase patrols and deal with anti-social behaviour but also build stronger relationships with local residents and businesses by listening to their concerns to bring about positive change.”

While the new hub is not open to the public, it serves as a strategic base for officers to operate more effectively within the community. Residents are encouraged to engage with their local Safer Neighbourhood Teams to share concerns and collaborate on safety initiatives.

This development aligns with the broader goals of the Alton Renewal Plan, which includes investments in housing, transport, and community facilities to revitalise the area. For more information on the Alton Renewal Plan, visit the Wandsworth Council’s official page.
