Skate at Somerset House returns
A “beloved staple” of the winter season in London, Skate at Somerset House has returned. The venue’s “spectacular courtyard” will once again transform into a “glorious festive destination.
Skate at Somerset House is one of London’s favourite winter experiences, signalling the start of the festive period with ice skating contemporary music, and food and drink. This makes it a perfect event for the whole family to enjoy.
Skating lessons are provided by Skate School, while Relaxed Sessions and “trailblazing” DJs with on the rink side decks, help to ensure that there is bound to be something for everyone.
Virgin Atlantic Holidays is bringing its signature special touches to the ice rink, including exclusive Skate sessions and a lounge-inspired Clubhouse with rink-side views. A series of rink-side takeovers at Skate Lates feature “party-starting sets” from Foundation FM, NTS legend Ruf Dug, queer dance collective Sue Veneers, and special sets from DJ Shortee Blitz, and Studio Wayne McGregor.
The Chalet by Jimmy Garcia returns, including its signature raclette. Joining it, for the first time, by Blondies Kitchen with a bespoke menu including Mince Pie Cookie Cups. A special commission from artist Harold Offeh, Creative Patterns, has been developed through workshops that explore creative movement and mark-making. And a pop-up store, Shelter Boutique is stocking handpicked selection of pre-loved items with all proceeds going to help the housing and homelessness charity.
To top it all off, a 40ft Christmas tree completes the festive atmosphere.
