Kia Academy has celebrated a “major milestone in its commitment to nurturing automotive talent” as it celebrates the first graduation ceremony at its site in Derby since opening its doors two years ago. The event, held at its “state-of-the-art” training facility on 14th November, “celebrates the achievements of the Academy’s inaugural cohort of apprentices,” with the ceremony bringing together Kia UK leadership, training partners, and graduations for “a day of recognition, inspiration, and future-focused dialogue.”
The graduating apprentices were all given a certificate and commemorative gift from the car manufacturer as part of the celebration.
The Kia Academy, the firm says, “plays a vital role in developing the next generation of automotive professionals,” with the Derby site “serving as a hub for Kia technical training and career progression.”
Its apprenticeship programme offers multiple pathways across technical, service, and parts disciplines, all to give learners the practical skills and theoretical knowledge they would need for the modern automotive world. Delivered in a partnership with Skillnet, the UK’s largest provider of automotive apprenticeships, the programme combines hands-on workshop training with classroom-based learning, covering everything from diagnostics and electrified vehicle systems to customer service and dealer operations.
Located at a purpose-built 40,000 square foot facility at St. Modwen Park in Derby, the Kia Academy is a “state-of-the-art training centre designed exclusively for Kia UK.” It serves as the national hub for the firm’s apprenticeships.
