Chiswick murder investigation renewed as family appeals for help

A renewed Chiswick murder investigation has been launched as the family of 75‑year‑old John Murray appeal for answers nearly a year after his death. Mr Murray was found dead in his Carlton Road home on 12 October 2024, and detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The Metropolitan Police say Crimestoppers is offering a £20,000 reward for details that lead to a conviction, and investigators believe local knowledge could be crucial. “We need the public’s help to get John and his family the justice they deserve,” said Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the case.

Mr Murray’s relatives have described their continued grief and frustration. “We cannot move on until we have answers,” they said. “To anyone who knows anything, no matter how small, please help us.”

Crimestoppers has also stressed the importance of community support, calling the pensioner “a much‑loved family man and neighbour.” Those who wish to provide information can do so anonymously, and police are urging residents to review any doorbell or dashcam footage from the time of the attack.

For anyone who lived nearby, every detail matters. Crimestoppers has confirmed that all tips are handled in confidence.
