Tooting Bec Lido Reopens for the Summer Season After £4m Makeover

As the weather warms, Tooting Bec Lido is preparing to welcome visitors for another memorable season.

From 1st May to 30th September, the Lido will open daily with two swim sessions per day. With its striking 90-metre pool and tree-lined setting, it remains a beloved destination for open-air swimming, and after a major £4 million upgrade, it’s looking better than ever.

“It’s the jewel in the crown of South London’s sports facilities,” says Councillor Judi Gasser, Wandsworth’s Cabinet Member for Environment. “This iconic Lido promises endless fun in the sun for thousands of visitors this summer.”

Renovated for the Next 50 Years

Last year’s extensive refurbishment has safeguarded the Lido’s future, with major improvements including:

A new pumphouse to improve water flow
A UV filtration system to keep water clean and safe
Upgraded landscaping around the pool, ideal for sunbathing and relaxing

These enhancements ensure the Lido remains a treasured space for both swimmers and social visitors throughout the warmer months.

Opening Hours

April

Monday to Saturday: 10.30am – 2.00pm (Just Swim)
Sunday and Bank Holidays: 10.00am – 2.00pm (Just Swim)

May to August

Daily: 10.00am – 2.30pm and 3.30pm – 8.00pm (All Welcome)

September

Daily: 10.00am – 2.00pm and 2.00pm – 5.00pm (Just Swim)

Note: The pool will be cleared 15 minutes before the end of each session. Tooting Bec Lido is not heated.

Session Types

Just Swim
Includes lane swimming and open swimming sections for a relaxed but structured swim.

All Welcome
Designed for more casual use, with minimal or no lanes to allow for fully open swimming.

Booking Information

To secure your swim session:

Register for free at the Places Leisure website
Book tickets in advance to avoid queues or disappointment
Bring your ticket (digital or printed) for faster entry
Bag checks will be in place at the entrance

If spaces remain, tickets can also be purchased on the day at the gate.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own food, though a café is also available on-site. Please note: alcohol, glass, or sharp objects are not permitted and will be confiscated at the entrance.

Access for All

Tooting Bec Lido is also part of Wandsworth’s Access for All scheme, offering 130 free tickets per session to eligible residents.

This initiative supports the Wandsworth Moves Together strategy, which aims to make sport, movement and leisure more accessible and affordable across the borough. A coalition of community partners is working to help more people live active and healthier lives every day.
