Tom Holland concussion halts ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ shoot after Leavesden stunt

Filming on Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been paused after Tom Holland was reportedly treated for a concussion during a stunt at Leavesden Studios in Watford on Friday 19 September. With Spider-Man Brand New Day filming paused, producers are reviewing the schedule and weighing when it is safe to restart.

The 29-year-old actor was taken to hospital as a precaution and later discharged. A short break from the shoot is expected while medical guidance and production needs are aligned. Co-producers are understood to be mapping out next steps to minimise knock-on delays.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.30am on Friday to attend to a patient who had sustained an injury at Leavesden Studios in Watford. An ambulance was sent to the scene, and the patient was transported to hospital for further care.”

Holland appeared briefly at a charity dinner in London the following evening with his fiancée Zendaya and his father, Dominic, but left early after feeling unwell. Family indicated he would be away from set “for a while”, although the length of the pause has not been confirmed.

Leavesden is a longstanding base for large franchise features, with facilities for stunt rehearsal and on-stage builds. A pause at one unit does not always mean a wider shutdown, but big-budget productions rely on tightly sequenced shooting days, specialist crews and location permits, so even a short hiatus can ripple through the plan.

Set safety on UK productions is governed by national rules. Where injuries occur, producers usually carry out an internal review and, where appropriate, report under established regulations. Readers who want the official guidance can find it here.

At the time of writing, the release date remains unchanged, with updates expected once a revised timetable is agreed.
