Rupert Street in Soho to get new evening market

Westminster City Council has announced the launch of a brand-new evening market in Rupert Street, Soho, opening on Friday 22nd August. The market will be open Monday to Saturday, 3pm until 10pm, bringing “a colourful mix of stalls and experiences” to the heart of the West End and making Soho “an even more exciting place to visit this summer.”
Rupert Street will be the city’s first-ever evening market. And with an eclectic line-up of global street food, vintage clothing, second-hand books, crafts and more, the street will reflect Soho’s unique character and provide something for everyone, from curious locals to visitors exploring the capital.
The new market is part of the council’s commitment to supporting small businesses and boosting the local economy. By providing new trading opportunities in one of London’s busiest and most creative neighbourhoods, the council is helping independent traders thrive while ensuring Soho remains a must-visit destination.
The introduction of a new market in Soho also responds directly to recommendations from the Westminster After Dark report, which called for a greater variety of evening activities, and for extended shopping hours, to add to the West End’s vibrancy. By creating a space for food, fashion, culture and community, the market gives residents and visitors new reasons to enjoy Soho into the evening.
Rupert Street market is just one of the exciting cultural attractions for residents and visitors to Westminster this summer. The council’s free outdoor arts festival, Inside Out, has returned for another year, offering unique cultural experiences in some of London’s most iconic locations. And this summer will see the return of al fresco dining in St Martin’s Lane.
Applications for trading licences are now open, and the council is actively encouraging new and independent traders to join the market community. To support those just starting out, the council’s Markets Team is also running a programme of training opportunities for new and younger traders, helping them take their first steps into trading and developing their businesses.
From delicious street food to one-of-a-kind vintage finds, Rupert Street Market promises to be a celebration of diversity, enterprise, and creativity. Visit the Markets webpage for more information.
