Marble Hill to host Diwali celebrations
On Saturday 18th October, Marble Hill will host Diwali celebrations, with nature-themed arts and crafts and live performances. This “joyful,” community-led event invites residents of all ages and backgrounds across the borough to come together and connect with nature while celebrating cultural heritage.
The free event is held in partnership with Nutkhut, a performing arts company, and English Heritage.
Join in the celebrations by crafting traditional Diwali lanterns made out of sustainable materials including recycled paper and natural fibres. Or celebrate the festival of light while also embracing your creativity, all while forming a closer connection with nature. The hands on sessions will provide a meaningful way to explore heritage, share stories, and build community across generations. Here, you can learn the energetic moves of Bollywood and Bhangra dance and enjoy an early evening parade with puppets and drummers.
The event will take place on Marble Hill in Twickenham, TW1 2NL, on Saturday 18th October between 2 and 8pm, with the parade scheduled for 5:30pm.
“We are proud to honour our residents of South Asian heritage by celebrating their history, culture and impact in the community,” Richmond upon Thames council says.
