Latchmere Leisure Centre unveils new “state-of-the-art” gym

Wandsworth residents can now enjoy an “upgraded gym experience” after an investment in modern facilities and equipment at Latchmere Leisure Centre.

The Latchmere Leisure Centre upgrade is part of Wandsworth and Places Leisure’s £24 million investment in leisure, swimming and sports centres across the borough “to create a welcoming, inclusive spaces that support health and wellbeing for all residents.”

Improvements include:

  • A new Box 12 Hub for functional and boxing-inspired training
  • A refreshed gym layout designed to improve flow, accessibility and training space

The upgrades to Latchmere Leisure Centre support the council’s “commitment to helping people move more, feel better and live healthier lives” as part of its Wandsworth Moves Together strategy.

Last year, Places Leisure was re-appointed to operate and manage eight of the leisure, swimming and sports centres in Wandsworth. In addition to the work on existing facilities, Places Leisure will launch a new Active Communities programme to encourage people to move more. It will also continue to support Access for All, “Britain’s best concession scheme,” offering members 50-100% discounts on leisure services including gyms and swimming.

Recently, Wandsworth council and Places Leisure unveiled a new soft play area at Putney Leisure Centre for under-fives, including Soft Play equipment such as sensory stations and imaginative play corners.
