Wandsworth Council has launched its new Growth Plan, a blueprint to “grow the local economy for the benefit of all our residents based on real assets, good transport connections, educational institutions and skills.”

Simon Hogg, Leader of Wandsworth Council, was joined in Wandsworth Town by Howard Dawber, London’s Deputy Mayor of Business and Growth, together with Fleur Anderson MP, to launch the Growth Plan, meet local businesses and hold a business round-table discussion. The Growth Plan is described by the council as a “place-based approach to renewal and investment,” adding that it is “rooted in the connections between growth, housing, health and the environment to meet the needs and aspirations of local people across the borough.”

The plan sets out a clear vision for Wandsworth’s future, building on its strengths as a creative, connected and compassionate borough with three key themes: people first, placemaking, and inclusive growth.

The council says it will work with partners to deliver economic, social and environmental outcomes together, supporting thousands of new genuinely affordable homes, good local jobs and investment in neighbourhoods during our decade of renewal.

A key feature of the plan is the Clapham Junction Growth Corridor, a strategically important and connected stretch of the borough extending from central London through Battersea and Nine Elms, then onwards to Clapham Junction and Wandsworth Town.

As the UK’s busiest interchange, Clapham Junction is at the heart of this corridor, which is set to deliver thousands of new homes, jobs and public realm improvements. The corridor will unlock land for future development, enhance transport links, and create vibrant, connected communities through place-based investment.
