Labubu dolls among items seized by Irish customs

An estimated €340,000 (£292,000) in items were seized by customs in Ireland, including counterfeit Labubu dolls, drugs, weapons, and wine. The items were seized as part of a number of operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare, Revenue Irish Tax and Customs has revealed.
During the search, 200 Labubu dolls and 374 other counterfeit items with a combined value of over €90,000 were seized, as well as 1.59kg of herbal cannabis, over 300 litres of red wine, and even weapons including an airsoft sub-machine gun and a nunchuk.
The items were being sent from America, Thailand, and the UK, to a number of addresses in Ireland. Branded Adidas, Birkenstock, Cartier, Moncler, Nike, and Louis Vuitton items were also among the counterfeit items.
The wine was branded ISKAR Rara Neagra and has a retail value of more than €130,000. It was seized on a ferry heading to Rosslare Europort in Ireland, coming in from France. Cannabis oil, edibles, synthetic cannabinoids, MDMA, and ketamine were among the other drugs seized.
Labubu is a fictional character from The Monsters toy series created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung. Their recent popularity has resulted in revenues exceeding £1 billion last year.
