Grand Prix of South America to return in 2026

Bespoke Rallies has announced the return of its Grand Prix of South America between 22nd October and 25th November 2026. The event revives the spirit of the iconic race in 1948, once described as the “greatest ever road race,” promising to be a thrilling experience “in the footsteps of history,” and featuring fantastic routes, multiple vehicle classes, and competition all the way.

The rally begins with a midnight departure from Buenos Aires, with Oscar Fangio, son of the great racing legend, flagging the race. Over the following weeks, competitors navigate nearly 11,000km of some of the most challenging and stunning terrain that South America has to offer, driving through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, finishing in the vibrant coastal city of Cartagena.

The 32-day adventure will feature two start days and 20 driving days, with eight days of rest, before the celebratory final. Participants will enjoy a breathtaking journey, along with hotel accommodation each night, as well as VIP receptions in cities along the way, thanks to local car clubs.

The rally will honour the original 1948 heroes, the Knights of the Road, renowned for their generosity, camaraderie, and grit over the gruelling challenge. The legendary Stage 7 incident involving Juan Manuel Fangio will be symbolically recreated through the support of competitors who need help. A special title, El Caballero del Camino, Knight of the Road, will be awarded on the final night’s dinner.

Mechanical, medical, and logistical support will be on hand throughout to ensure safety all along the way.

“The Grand Prix of South America remains a coveted event for many seasoned rally drivers who’ve already conquered other continents,” John Brigden, Rally Director said. “Re-tracing the route of the greatest road race ever promises an extraordinary experience for all participants, veterans and novices alike. Having already revived the original adventure once, we’re confident that the 2026 edition will be even more thrilling and will forge friendships that last a lifetime.”
