Gas works to cause delays around White City until 19th December

Drivers are advised to “expect delays” in White City via Wood Lane until Friday, 19th December due to “urgent” Cadent Gas roadworks. The “disruptive” gas works have begun at the junctions of Wood Lane, Scrubs Lane, and North Pole Road. The work began on Monday, 13th October, “significantly affecting traffic, buses, and pedestrians,” with lane closures, temporary traffic lights, and bus diversions in place.

Cadent Gas has informed Hammersmith & Fulham Council that they need to urgently upgrade the gas pipes in the area. To minimise disruption for local people caused by the gas works, the council is “insisting the gas company complete the work as quickly as possible,” and “receiving regular updates from Cadent Gas on their progress.” There are no planned interruptions of gas supply for local residents.

The council says it will work closely with TfL to monitor disruption to bus services in the area and “take action if necessary. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and allow extra time for journeys. For traffic updates and to plan your route, visit TfL’s website.

The gas works are being carried out to upgrade pipes in Wood Lane in White City. These are happening in two phases and “seriously affecting local traffic,” the council said. The first phase was completed on Monday, 10th December, during which, temporary traffic lights were put in place to control traffic flow in the area.

The second phase is currently underway, with Wood Lane southbound being closed between North Pole Road and Du Cane Road until 19th December. Temporary traffic lights are in place at the junction. Nascot Street and Glenroy Street are also closed. Drivers are redirected to Caverswall Street. Bus stops Q northbound and K southbound have also been suspended.

Starting from 1st December, temporary traffic lights will be installed in Du Cane Road and bus stop C will also be suspended. The southbound lane will continue to be closed.
