Eelbrook Common gets Green Flag award

Eelbrook Common is now one of four green spaces in Hammersmith & Fulham to newly receive the prestigious Green Flag award, bringing the total in the borough to 25. A Green Flag was raised there to celebrate the park receiving the prestigious accolade.
Judges from independent charity Keep Britain Tidy assess open spaces against their strict criteria, checking the management of the sites, their biodiversity, heritage and safety.
Over the last four years, H&F Council says it has invested more than £3.5million across the borough’s 55 parks and open green spaces. Between 2025 and 2027, it will be investing a further £1.1million. This funding will focus on improving all aspects of the borough’s parks, including new planting and updated footpaths, lighting, bins and signage.
It is also investing £8.3million into the borough’s 95 playgrounds across the next three years, as part of work to make H&F “the best borough to live, work, and socialise.”
On Saturday, H&F Cllr Mayor Sharon Holder and Cllr Florian Chevoppe-Verdier, H&F Cabinet Member for Public Realm, were joined by Friends of Bishops Park, local residents and members of Idverde’s grounds maintenance team for a flag-raising ceremony.
“This award is not just a symbol of excellence in park management,” Cllr Holder said, “it’s a recognition of the care, dedication, and passion that goes into making our green spaces welcoming, safe, and vibrant for everyone. The Green Flag Award sets the benchmark for well-managed parks and green spaces across the UK and beyond. And I’m proud to say that Hammersmith & Fulham continues to meet, and exceed, that standard.”
Eelbrook Common is one of four green spaces to be handed the award this year, bringing the total amount of Green Flag in H&F sites to 25. It joins Marcus Garvey Park, St Paul’s Church and Open Space, and Vicarage Gardens.
