Ellie Kildunne becomes the Christmas Voice of Heathrow as festive travel begins
As Heathrow prepares for the start of the Christmas getaway, Ellie Kildunne has been named the Christmas Voice of Heathrow, becoming the airport’s newest festive tradition. The England international will narrate seasonal messages throughout December as millions of passengers begin their journeys home or abroad.
The 26-year-old Rugby World Cup winner said the role felt like “a moment to pause in the middle of the rush”, and that she hoped travellers would hear her messages just as they began to unwind. “Christmas is a time for celebration and for me, I’m looking forward to marking what a big year it’s been,” she said.

More than seven million passengers are expected to pass through Heathrow’s four terminals this month, with the final two weeks of December forecast to be the busiest. Kildunne said she hoped the announcements would help create a sense of calm amid the crowds. “This time of year is for reconnecting, recharging and remembering what really matters,” she added.
Daniel Edwards, Heathrow’s director of services, said the airport wanted to set a warmer tone for travellers stepping inside the terminal. “Christmas is a truly special time at Heathrow, as thousands of passengers reunite with loved ones and begin their festive journeys,” he said. “By partnering with Ellie as our first-ever voice of Britain, we hope to spark some joy the moment passengers arrive.”
Airlines have reported strong demand for long-haul routes to East Asia, Canada and Australia, with many families choosing to travel earlier than usual to avoid congestion. For Kildunne, the partnership marks another milestone after an exceptional year on the pitch. Her festive messages will play across the airport until early January.
