Flibco Offers the Cheapest Way from London to Stansted Airport

When it comes to getting to London’s airports, Heathrow usually gets the royal treatment – multiple train lines, express services, even the odd black cab driver who doesn’t blink. Stansted, by contrast, has often felt like the forgotten cousin in the capital’s travel network. However, that might be changing thanks to Flibco, a bus company that’s quietly offering what’s currently the cheapest way from London to Stansted Airport.

Their bright green coaches now run from Liverpool Street, taking you up through Bishopsgate and Stratford before pulling into Stansted about 90 minutes later. The headline figure? A return ticket starts at around £19, as long as you don’t mind travelling light. Bringing extra luggage? You’ll pay a bit more but it’s still noticeably cheaper than the alternatives. You can check prices and book directly through Flibco.

It’s a competitive route. National Express also runs buses from several London locations, including King’s Cross and Paddington, while First Essex operates local connections too. However, Flibco’s 24-hour schedule and half-hour frequency make it appealing for early flyers or night owls catching late arrivals and it’s the cheapest way to get there.

If you’re after speed and don’t mind paying for it, the Stansted Express train still takes the top spot. It runs from Liverpool Street or Tottenham Hale, and while tickets technically start at under a tenner, most travellers will pay somewhere between £30 and £40 for a return, assuming they book online in advance.

For those who prefer the door-to-door option, taxis are always on the cards. However, prepare your wallet: fares range widely from around £50 to well over £100 depending on your pickup point and time of day. Certainly not the cheapest way to get there. If you’re flying solo and watching the budget, a coach may offer better value.

As with many things in London, what you lose in time, you might just make up for in cost. For now, Flibco looks set to give budget-conscious travellers a much-needed alternative when heading to Stansted. Whether it becomes a regular fixture in Londoners’ travel routines remains to be seen. However, one thing’s clear, it’s now easier than ever to skip the cab and catch a coach instead.
