Measles cases rise prompting urge to check vaccine status
As measles cases are rising across the capital, Hammersmith & Fulham is urging families to check their children’s vaccination status. Measles cases continue to rise across multiple boroughs with school age children reportedly being the most affected.
The disease can spread extremely easily, far more quickly than either colds or the flu, and can result in serious complications, especially for younger children or those with weakened immune systems.
“Vaccination remains the strongest protection against measles,” Dr Mayada Abu Affan, H&F’s Director of Public Health, said. “I encourage all parents and carers to check their child’s MMR status. If they’ve missed a dose, it’s not too late. Getting vaccinated now can stop further outbreaks and protect your family as well as our wider community.”
To make it easier to catch up on a missed jab, Hammersmith & Fulham will have a number of pop-up vaccination clinics available throughout March 2026. Clinics are open to all children who are missing one or both MMR doses and NHS nurses will be on hand to check vaccination records and answer questions.
The clinics will take place at the H&F Family Hub at the Tudor Rose Community Centre, Tudor Rose Building, Fulham Court, SW6 5PG. Head over on Saturday 14th March from 10am to 2pm or Wednesday 18 March from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

Those who would prefer to attend their own GP practice can still contact them to check vaccination records or arrange an appointment.
