Button to compete at Goodwood Revival in E-Type
2009 Formula 1 World Champion and current World Endurance Driver, Jenson Button will return to Goodwood. He will be at the Revival, racing his 1962 Jaguar E-Type racing in the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) TT Celebration.
The race is for the fastest and most iconic GT cars from Goodwood’s ‘golden era’ when it hosted the RAC TT between 1960 and 1964. Button will return to the grid, pursuing victory since he last competed at the Revival in 2022.
Formerly raced by BRDC life member Ed Nelson in the 1965-66 season at the Nürburgring and Mugello, the 1962 model is the last of the famous Protheroe-prepared Jaguars. Having raced throughout the early 2000s, the CUT 8 ex-Protheroe last competed in the Revival’s RAC TT in 2013 with a different owner.
Button made his historic racing debut at the 2021 Revival, driving a 1962 Jaguar E-Type in the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy. It is only fitting that he takes the wheel of an E-Type once again, battling for the coveted RAC TT Trophy.
“I am delighted to be coming back to the Goodwood Revival in September, for the most enjoyable weekend of racing of the whole year,” the Formula 1 World Champion said. “In fact, I love it so much, I have bought my own car to take part! I am very excited to be racing my ‘new’ Jaguar E-type in the TT. I can’t wait.”
