Four held after Windsor Castle projection on eve of Trump visit

Police arrested four men in Windsor on Tuesday night after an unauthorised image of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein was projected onto the walls of Windsor Castle, hours before the President’s programme with the King. Officers moved in quickly to stop the display near the castle gates; the Windsor Castle projection arrests were on suspicion of “malicious communications”, and the men, a 60-year-old from East Sussex, a 50-year-old and a 36-year-old from London, and a 37-year-old from Kent, remained in custody as enquiries continued.

The intervention came as the security footprint tightened across Windsor and central London. Police have warned of rolling restrictions and busy public spaces as crowds, tourists and demonstrators converge on the royal town.

Today’s programme in Windsor includes ceremonial elements at the castle and engagement with the Royal Household. If you’re looking for background on what usually happens during state occasions, here’s the official overview of ceremonial events. Local businesses reported mixed feelings, a welcome midweek footfall uplift for some; disruption for others, while residents noted unusually quiet side streets as traffic marshals redirected vehicles around pinch points.

Protest organisers expect to gather in central London later in the day, with marches routed through familiar corridors before speeches near Westminster. Travellers are being advised to allow extra time and check for short-notice diversions.

Police said any further attempts to project images onto royal buildings would be dealt with robustly. The Windsor Castle projection arrests have sharpened the focus on the balance between protest and public order on high-profile occasions, a question that often returns when large-scale events meet tight urban spaces. Expect visible policing in the town and around central London as the day unfolds.
