Ukraine Crisis deepens as Dmytro Kuleba Resigns Amid Cabinet Reshuffle and Russian Strikes

In a pivotal moment during the Ukraine crisis, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, a key figure on the international stage, has resigned amid escalating Russian strikes and an anticipated Cabinet reshuffle. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to overhaul his government, aiming to strengthen his administration more than two years into the war. Kuleba, known for his role in communicating Ukraine’s position globally, steps down as Ukraine faces intensified assaults, further complicating the country’s ongoing battle for stability.

The resignation of Kuleba, who has held the position since March 2020, will be addressed by Ukraine’s lawmakers in their next parliamentary session, according to Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk. While Kuleba has not disclosed his reasons for stepping down, the timing aligns with Zelenskyy’s push to reorganise his Cabinet, with half of the current ministers expected to be replaced. The reshuffle is part of Zelenskyy’s strategy to strengthen his administration’s resolve amid an increasingly challenging war scenario.

Meanwhile, the conflict on the ground has taken a harrowing toll. Russian missile strikes on the Ukrainian city of Lviv have claimed the lives of at least seven people, including a child and a medical worker, with dozens more injured and some in critical condition. This latest assault follows one of the most devastating attacks since the war began, with missiles targeting a military academy and a nearby hospital in Poltava, resulting in over 50 deaths and more than 200 injuries. The strikes have further intensified calls from Zelenskyy for Western allies to provide Ukraine with longer-range weapons to push back against Russian advances.

As the fighting continues, the Ukrainian forces are making strategic moves near the Russian border, including operations in the Kursk region. The conflict remains fluid, with both sides engaging in fierce battles that have left large parts of eastern Ukraine deeply scarred. The ongoing Russian offensive highlights the urgency of Zelenskyy’s planned Cabinet changes, as he seeks to consolidate leadership and navigate the complex geopolitical landscape.
