Every year the council works with Brook Green charity LMP Action to help coordinate Summer in the City events. And you can volunteer to help with the summer fun. It can be a fantastic way to build valuable life skills. Lots of Summer in the City providers have opportunities for young people aged 16 to 19 to volunteer.

Local student Sophie Allwright has been volunteering with our local charity partner LMP Action for the past year. She’s been studying for her A-levels at Latymer Upper School and hopes to become a doctor one day.

Explaining why she loves volunteering, Sophie said: “It’s a really rewarding experience because you can directly see how your involvement has an impact.”

“I’ve built strong bonds with the kids and the other staff members and volunteers. I love seeing the kids grow as they come back each year. And I’ve learnt valuable skills like building my confidence with how to engage children. The great thing about volunteering is it’s completely flexible. You can do as little or as much that suits your schedule.”

Whether you’re interested in a career in education, youth work, charity, sports, public services, the arts or creative industries, there’s plenty of volunteering opportunities to explore.
