Skyscraper in Brazil inspired by F1 legend set to be built

Plans have been unveiled for a building that is set to be the world’s tallest residential skyscraper. The Senna Tower will be located in Santa Catarina in Brazil and will pay homage to legendary F1 racing driver Ayrton Senna.

The Brazilian won the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship three times, in 1988, 1990, and 1991. He tragically died in a crash at Imola aged just 34 but his name continues to inspire in his native country. Some of his memorabilia set records at auction a few years ago.

The building will be the tallest residential skyscraper. The tallest building in the world will remain the Burj Khalifa in the UAE. While we don’t know what height the Senna tower will be, it is expected to exceed 500m or 1,640 ft, making it taller than the current record holder for residentials, New York City’s Central Park tower.

If however, the Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina is finished, it might be one to beat as it is slated to reach a height of 517m or 1,696 ft.

The Senna Tower was designed by the niece of the F1 icon, Lalalli Senna and will include a bse that tapers into the traditional rectangular tower shape. The renders also show a lot of lights on its exterior.

Inside, there will be 228 residences including 18 so-called “suspended mansions” and a couple of “mega-triplex penthouses” along with six private leisure floors with amenities and a rooftop area for residents’ use.

It will also play host to entertainment, leisure, and restaurant areas that will be open to the public at the base, as well as an immersive space that details Senna’s career, life, and accomplishments.

Construction firm and developer FG Empreendimentos has confirmed that it has received approval from local city officials and revealed that the project will have a budget of 3 billion Brazilian reals or around £414 million.
