Longbow, the UK’s first electric sportscar manufacturer, has officially launched a new category in automotive performance with the unveiling of the world’s first Featherweight Electric Vehicle (FEV). With its debut models, the Speedster and Roadster, the company says it is redefining the lightweight British sportscar for the electric age.
Built on a bespoke aluminium chassis, both models are engineered for minimal weight and maximum engagement. Weighing under 995kg, Longbow’s cars promise a level of agility and driver connection rarely seen in modern electric vehicles. Inspired by classics like the Lotus Elise and Jaguar E-Type, the Speedster and Roadster focus on pure driving pleasure, blending heritage with cutting-edge electric performance.

Longbow CEO Daniel Davey believes the modern sportscar has lost its way, weighed down by excessive mass and complexity. “Many so-called sportscars now tip the scales at over 1,500kg, with electric models even heavier. We are bringing back the joy of driving with a featherweight electric sportscar that is agile, balanced, and exhilarating.”
The Speedster, an open-top two-seater, weighs just 895kg and accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds, offering a 275-mile range. Priced from £84,995, only 150 units will be hand-built in the UK, alongside the limited Luminary 1st Edition and Autograph Edition models. The closed-cockpit Roadster follows, weighing 995kg with a 3.6-second sprint to 62mph. With a starting price of £64,995, it will also be produced in limited numbers.
Handcrafted in Britain, Longbow’s models benefit from world-class engineering expertise, drawing on the UK’s rich motorsport heritage. Reservations are now open for both models, with production set to begin soon. Longbow is not just reviving the lightweight sportscar—it’s redefining it for the electric era.
