KTM to make motorbike with auto emergency braking

KTM will launch a new motorbike in 2025 with a number of advanced radar-guided safety features. These include the ability to automatically put the brakes on to prevent a collision, a feature that many cars have had for a number of years.

That’s all thanks to the latest version of Bosch’s Advanced Rider Assistance Systems which will add a total of six features to make riding a motorbike both easier and safe. Motor Cycle News noted that an upcoming KTM Super Adventure model will debut this technology. The bike is expected to be built on the 1390 platform and use a clutchless semi-automatic gearbox.

The most notable new feature on the KTM will be called ‘Adaptive cruise control – stop and go.’ To maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, it will gradually slow the bike down and can even bring it to a complete stop if it needs to. This one is designed only for clutchless bikes, allowing the rider to continue without stalling or changing gears once they’ve stopped.

Emergency brake assist does what it says on the tin. In case of hazards in front, the KTM bike will increase the pressure on the front wheel brake to bring the speed down as much as possible. It will only engage once the driver has applied the brakes.

There will even be features that help deal with vehicles behind. Rear distance warning will warn the rider when they are being tailgated dangerously through a warning on the bike’s screen. Similarly, Rear collision warning will put the hazards lights on to warn the driver behind that they are too close.

If the rider is the one that’s too close for comfort, Riding distance assist will take it a step further than adaptive cruise control to prevent a rear-end collision by decelerating and braking. This can however be overridden by a quick turn of the throttle

Finally, Group ride assist will help with riders who like to go in a group, allowing them to maintain a sae staggered formation with their convoy.
