Izu Panorama Park Sky Garden offers stunning Mount Fuji views

Izu Panorama Park in Shizuoka Prefecture has unveiled its latest attraction, the Sky Garden by Ao Terrace, offering visitors breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and Suruga Bay. Perched atop Mount Katsuragi, this new addition enhances the park’s reputation as a prime spot for panoramic vistas.
The Sky Garden features the “Grand Loop,” a circular deck that provides an immersive experience of the surrounding natural beauty. Adjacent to this, the “Forest Walk” boardwalk invites guests to meander beneath a canopy of trees, enjoying dappled sunlight and the serene sounds of nature. A specially designated photo spot further down the “Grand Loop” offers the illusion of floating above the clouds, making it a favourite among photography enthusiasts.
Enhancing the tranquil atmosphere, three water basins installed in 2021 reflect the expansive blue skies, amplifying the scenic views. Notably, on clear days, the elongated trapezoidal basin mirrors an inverted image of Mount Fuji, creating a captivating visual effect. Surrounding these basins, comfortable lounge seating allows visitors to relax and soak in the scenery. For those seeking a more private retreat, the Katsuragi Saryo Private Gazebo and The Water Lounge offer intimate spaces to enjoy light refreshments while admiring the landscape.
Access to these attractions is made convenient by the park’s 1,800-metre ropeway, transporting visitors from the base to the summit of Mount Katsuragi in approximately seven minutes. Beyond the Sky Garden, Izu Panorama Park offers a modern Japanese-style café, restaurants serving local delicacies, gift shops, an outdoor foot spa, and shrines with histories dating back to the Heian period.
