Arrest Made After Fires at Keir Starmer-Linked Homes in North London

A man has been arrested after fires at Keir Starmer’s properties in north London sparked a counter-terrorism investigation. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 21-year-old was taken into custody in the early hours of Tuesday and remains under investigation.

The first fire took place at a property in Kentish Town, where Sir Keir is known to have private ties. The incident occurred just after 1am on Monday and was brought under control within 20 minutes by the London Fire Brigade. No one was injured, but the entrance of the home sustained visible damage.

This follows another suspicious fire on Sunday at a converted house in Islington, also connected to the prime minister, where firefighters had to escort one resident to safety. A third incident, involving a car fire on the same Kentish Town street, was recorded just days earlier.

With multiple incidents involving properties connected to a senior political figure, the investigation has now been taken over by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command. Police stressed the move is precautionary, but all three fires are being treated as suspicious.

While Sir Keir’s official residence remains at 10 Downing Street, the affected homes are understood to be personally connected to him. A spokesperson said the prime minister thanked emergency services for their swift response but would not comment further due to the ongoing investigation.

A statement from the Met said: “As a precaution and due to the property having previous connections with a high-profile public figure, officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command are leading the investigation into this fire.”

According to the London Fire Brigade, fire damage to entry points like doors and stairways can pose significant risks to occupants, even when fires are small or quickly contained.

With no injuries reported so far, police and fire officials are focusing on whether the incidents are linked, and if so, whether they were targeted deliberately.
