Cameo, mini sculpture revealed by Rolls-Royce
Rolls-Royce has revealed Cameo, an “exquisite” miniature sculpture that takes inspiration from the firm’s heritage, and, according to the company, captures “the essence of Rolls-Royce motor cars in their most elegant form.”
The silhouette of the unique collector’s item pays homage to the open top cars built by the company in its earlier years. The materials and construction of Cameo are said to parallel the way its models are handcrafted at the Goodwood factory to this day.
Cameo is made of a series of individual, “highly engineered pieces” that are “carefully and meticulously” designed to be self-assembled. Made from much of the same materials as a full-size Rolls-Royce, the owner can assemble it themselves.
The body of Cameo is made by fitting together two sections, one made from solid oak, and another from polished aluminium, to create the famous two-tone finish that today’s Rolls-Royce models are renowned for.
The oak body joins the aluminium chassis with magnets. This, the company says emulates “a seminal stage in the Home of Rolls-Royce assembly journey known as the ‘marriage’, when the body is mounted to the drivetrain.” For buyers of the real cars, many choose to witness this part in person so the company felt it was “only fitting” that it is referenced in Cameo.
The interior is the next part to be installed. The 3D-printed part is finished in the company’s signature Grace White colour. Other nods include the self-levelling centre wheel caps with the RR logo remaining upright as the wheels turn. Finally, the Cameo driver takes their place behind the wheel.
The unique collector’s item is available at Rolls-Royce showrooms and Private Office boutiques.
