Board of Tottenham say club “not for sale”

Tottenham Hotspur’s owner has “unequivocally rejected” interest in buying the North London club, the board has said, adding that it is “not for sale.” The announcement came after a sudden departure of executive chairman Daniel Levy, leading to speculation that a takeover bid could be coming.

Levy was the longest-serving chairman of a Premier League club. He is estimated to have earned over £50 million over his nearly two-and-a-half decades. But he had also been targeted by protests from the club’s supporters, particularly in the 2024/25 season where it finished one space above the relegation zone.

The statement from the board said that ENIC Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd  has rejected two separate expressions of interest in buying Spurs.

One came from former Newcastle United shareholder Amanda Staveley’s PCP International Finance Limited, while the other was from a consortium led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Nh via Firehawk Holdings Limited.

“The Board of the Club and ENIC confirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and ENIC has no intention to accept any such offer to acquire its interest in the Club,” the statement said.

ENIC holds a nearly 87% stake in the side. British businessman Joe Lewis and his family reportedly own the majority of ENIC, with around 30% held by Levy and his family.

In a recent statement, the club revealed that Levy’s exit came as “part of the Club’s ambition to ensure that it is set up to deliver long-term sporting success.”

At the time, Levy said: “I am incredibly proud of the work I have done together with the executive team and all our employees. We have built this club into a global heavyweight competing at the highest level. I wish to thank all the fans that have supported me over the years. It hasn’t always been an easy journey but significant progress has been made. I will continue to support this club passionately.”
