The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League is set to return in November at the Yas Marina Circuit with a $2.25 million prize. It will also launch a global virtual racing series.
Following its debut in April 2024, drawing in over 10,000 spectators and more than a million lgboal streaming views, the autonomous racing league will be back for Season 2, promising even greater ambition, expanded international participation, and a “bold new” platform to advance autonomous vehicle technology.
The announcement was made at the Make it in the Emirates Forum in Abu Dhabi. The Emirates Autonomous Vehicle (EAV 24), the league’s upgraded racer, “represents a significant leap in performance and engineering,” according to a press release from the league. Assembled and programmed in the UAE, the vehicle is part of the nation’s investment into AI, robotics, and high-performance mobility.
Built on a proven Super Formula SF23 platform, this new car has been engineered to incorporate enhanced sensors, upgraded computers, and refined control logic, all designed for the demanding conditions of autonomous racing.
This year’s league will see “elite research teams” from 10 countries, with a global roster that has expanded to include France and Japan alongside teams from the USA, Germany, China, Singapore, Italy, and the UAE.
