Andersen Quartz unveiled as affordable “designer” EV chargers

Andersen, a British designer of electric vehicle (EV) chargers, has unveiled the Andersen Quartz, a compact and stylish home EV charger designed to blend seamlessly with modern British homes. This new offering aims to make premium charging technology more accessible to a broader range of EV owners.

The Andersen Quartz is notably 34% shorter and 45% narrower than the brand’s previous smallest unit, the award-winning A3. Despite its reduced size, it doesn’t compromise on functionality. The charger is available in both socketed and tethered options, catering to different user preferences. It supports 7kW single-phase and 22kW three-phase charging, facilitating efficient home charging solutions.

Personalisation is at the heart of the Andersen Quartz. Homeowners can choose from a palette of over 100 colour combinations for the fascia and body, ensuring the unit complements their property’s aesthetic. For those seeking an extra touch of elegance, options like Accoya wood or carbon front fascia trims are available.

Incorporating state-of-the-art electronics developed by Andersen’s in-house R&D team, the Quartz is fully compatible with solar power systems. This feature allows users to harness renewable energy for charging, promoting sustainable living. Additionally, the charger can optimise charging schedules to take advantage of low-cost electricity tariffs, enabling ‘smart’ charging that can significantly reduce costs compared to public charging stations.

The Andersen Quartz can be controlled via a refreshed Andersen app or an optional display screen. The app provides users with the ability to track energy consumption and expenditure, as well as schedule future charging sessions to minimise costs and environmental impact.

Hand-built at Andersen’s production facility in Bedfordshire, the Quartz boasts a robust, fully weatherproof cast-aluminium construction, ensuring durability against the UK’s varied weather conditions. The company’s commitment to quality and sustainability is evident, with over 70% of the charger’s components manufactured in the UK, reducing the carbon footprint associated with production.

Priced competitively at £685 (including VAT) and available fully installed from £1,105 through Andersen’s national team of experienced electricians, the Quartz offers a market-leading 7-year warranty, underscoring the company’s confidence in its product.

For Londoners seeking a blend of design, functionality, and sustainability in their home EV charging solutions, the Andersen Quartz presents a compelling option. Its combination of compact design, customisable aesthetics, and advanced features aligns well with the needs of urban dwellers aiming for efficient and stylish home charging.
