Westminster Housing Centre Opens in Soho, Bringing Services Closer to Residents
Westminster housing centre opens on Broadwick Street in Soho, marking a significant step in Westminster City Council’s commitment to bring essential services closer to residents. The new centre offers a convenient location for locals to access housing advice and support right in their community.
This fourth location, launched in the past 18 months, follows similar openings in Queens Park, Pimlico, and Bayswater, with the council committing to increasing accessibility across the city.
On Monday, residents celebrated alongside Westminster City Council Leader, Cllr Adam Hug, and Cllr Liza Begum, Cabinet Member for Housing Services. The event marked a new chapter for local residents, who now have direct, face-to-face access to housing support and services right in the heart of Soho.
Cllr Liza Begum expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I am delighted to be able to mark the opening of this office for Soho residents. This office is the eighth now established in the borough and allows us to bring our services closer to residents – something residents have repeatedly asked for.”
The new Soho Housing Centre provides a central location where residents can discuss specific issues, share feedback directly with council staff, and learn about support services available to them. Kim, a local resident, shared her excitement: “Today has marked a new beginning for us where everything is going to be on the doorstep for us. It has really made us as residents feel like we matter. I’m sure we’ll be in their office all the time bugging them.”
This initiative is part of the council’s Fairer Westminster Delivery Plan, aimed at strengthening face-to-face contact with tenants. As housing centres continue to open in key locations, Westminster City Council hopes to bring critical services closer to communities, ensuring everyone has access to the support they need. With several centres now open across the borough, residents can easily access support at locations convenient to them.
