Wandsworth in Bloom opens for entries
An all-new gardening competition, Wandsworth in Bloom, is now open for entries, inviting residents, schools, businesses and community groups to help make the borough burst with colour and creativity.
Wandsworth in Bloom is about “bringing people together, celebrating neighbourhood pride and contributing to a more biodiverse, sustainable Wandsworth,” according to the council. “Gardening is an act of care, creativity and community spirit,” it added, “and we want everyone to be part of it.”
As part of the celebrations as London Borough of Culture 2025, residents, schools, businesses and community groups are invited to showcase their green-fingered talents and help make the borough “burst with colour.”

Schools are encouraged to plant a seed and watch the sunflower “soar” with a dedicated category for nurseries and primary schools. Local businesses can watch their business flourish and grow by transforming shopfronts into welcoming green spaces. Neighbours and community groups can team up to transform their street, to show how gardens of any size can strengthen neighbourhood connections and support local wildlife.
Wandsworth in Bloom supports the Council’s wider work on biodiversity, sustainability and community wellbeing, and hopes “to make 2025 the most vibrant year yet.”
The competition is free to enter and open to everyone, whether you’re a first-time grower or a seasoned gardener. All entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges, including local gardening experts, with winners announced at a special celebration event. The deadline for entries is Monday 30 June 2025, and judging will take place in July.
