London Landmarks Half Marathon Disruption on 6th April

As runners lace up their trainers for the 2025 London Landmarks Half Marathon, central London is preparing for tens of thousands of participants and spectators to descend on the capital this Sunday. The popular event, which showcases many of the city’s iconic sights, will result in extensive road closures and train service disruptions across the City and West End.

Whether you’re running, spectating or just trying to get around, it’s worth being aware that the London Landmarks Half Marathon is a closed-road event. No vehicles will be allowed on the course, with road closures scheduled throughout the day depending on the race’s location at any given time. Runners will set off from 9:15am to 10:40am.

The 13.1-mile route winds past familiar landmarks including Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London, with entertainment along the course from live DJs to dancers and themed charity cheer stations. But for locals and visitors alike, it’s the travel changes that may prove most disruptive.

Several key roads, including Cheapside, Holborn, Cannon Street, Fleet Street, Victoria Embankment and Whitehall, will be closed for much of the day. Full details of closures are listed alphabetically and cover more than 70 streets in and around the City of London, Westminster, and Southwark. Some roads, such as The Mall and Cockspur Street, will be closed from as early as 2:30am.

Public transport will also be impacted. London Euston will be closed all day due to strike action affecting Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway. Other closures and engineering works will affect St Pancras, Victoria, Marylebone and services from Greater Anglia, Thameslink, Southern, and Southeastern. Expect changes to routes and extended journey times on affected lines until at least mid-morning.

For a full breakdown of affected services, National Rail’s journey planner offers real-time updates and recommended travel alternatives. You can also check the TfL travel alerts page for London-specific disruption.

While the London Landmarks Half Marathon may slow things down on the roads and rails, the event has become a much-loved fixture on the city’s sporting calendar – raising millions for charities each year. Organised by Tommy’s, the baby charity, LLHM is a 100% not-for-profit event that partners with over 500 UK charities.
