Intelligence: USA bans UK from sharing with Ukraine

The USA has banned the UK from sharing any intelligence from Washington with Ukraine as it withdraws its support for Zelensky. This comes as Trump decides to freeze American military aid to the country, leading to warnings that it could run out of weapons within two-to-three months.
But aside from missiles and ammunition, British intelligence agencies and military outlets have been informed that they are expressly forbidden from sharing any American-gathered intelligence. Ever since the start of the conflict, Britain and other Western security partners, including Australia and New Zealand, have shared this information with Ukraine.
However, according to The Daily Mail, the top-level security classification has been removed by the USA pending further notification. This, the paper writes, could impact Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russia’s invasion.
The ban applies to GCHQ, the spy agencies and intelligence gathering branches of the Ministry of Defence.
“The United States’s instruction to stop allies sharing US-derived intelligence with Ukraine is what I would expect,” UK military intelligence expert Phil Ingram told the Mail. “The US’s intelligence partners, including Britain, have had their authority to pass on intelligence revoked. The US will tightly control distribution of its intelligence to Ukraine through agencies based in Kyiv.”
This coincides with Washington confirming that it will pause military aid to Ukraine following tension between the two nations.
“We have two to three months. After that, the position will be very difficult for us,” senior official from Ukraine told the Financial Times. “It will not be a total collapse, but we will be forced to withdraw from some areas more quickly.”
Critics have said that any long-term freeze could lead to a longer and not a shorter war. This is because it could lead to Moscow exploiting Ukraine’s dwindling resources including weapons and ammunition stocks. It could potentially lead to further incursions into its territory.
