Carlisle Park Tennis courts reopen this bank holiday Monday
This bank holiday Monday, 5th May, Carlisle Park in Hampton is set to serve up a grand reopening of its tennis courts, promising a day filled with activities for tennis enthusiasts of all ages. The seven courts, now freshly refurbished, are ready to welcome the community back for a celebration of sport and togetherness.
The event kicks off at 10am, offering a variety of sessions tailored for different age groups and skill levels. Youngsters can enjoy Mini Tennis and Playball Taster Classes, while teens and juniors can participate in demonstrations and games designed to showcase their talents. Families are encouraged to join in the fun with a dedicated Family Tennis Class, making it a perfect outing for everyone.
Adults haven’t been left out; there’s a tennis clinic, ball machine demonstrations, and racket demos to help improve your game. The official relaunch ceremony is scheduled for 1pm, marking the culmination of the park’s extensive refurbishment efforts. The afternoon will feature match play and competitions, including a timed family doubles event and an under-8 mini tennis match, ensuring a spirited conclusion to the day’s festivities.
While walk-ins are welcome, it’s advisable to book in advance due to limited spaces. Some sessions are free, with optional charity donations supporting TW Tennis’ new sports foundation, aimed at promoting tennis in the community. Other activities may have entry fees to cover the cost of prizes and trophies.
Carlisle Park, located on Wensleydale Road, TW12 2LY, is not just about tennis; it’s a hub for various recreational activities, including cricket, football, and bowls, complemented by facilities like children’s play areas and an outdoor gym. The park’s rejuvenation is part of the borough’s Leisure Strategy, focusing on enhancing community facilities to encourage healthy lifestyles among residents.
