Canary Wharf Winter Lights Festival Returns to Light Up January Evenings

The Canary Wharf Winter Lights Festival is back this January, ready to lift the gloom of the darker days and add some sparkle to your evenings. Running from 21st January to 1st February, the free festival will illuminate the area with creative and playful light displays from 5 pm to 10 pm each night.

This year, the festival promises to transform Canary Wharf into a glowing playground of imagination and light. Among the highlights are 12 brand-new installations, including two exciting pieces created especially for this year’s event. One standout features a daytime display that catches the sunlight and at night bursts into a stunning, choreographed light show. These fresh additions join some popular displays from past festivals, ensuring a mix of the new and familiar.

The festival is a mix of homegrown and international talent, with artists showcasing everything from bold, eye-catching installations to more subtle and thought-provoking designs. Along the route, you’ll find plenty of places to grab a bite or warm drink to keep you cosy. MMy Wood Wharf will host a buzzing food market in Harbour Quay Gardens, while Dishoom’s free chai pop-up is sure to hit the spot. Fancy something a little different? No 35 Mackenzie Walk is serving up special light-up cocktails on its terrace—perfect for adding a little glow to your evening.

Visitors can plan ahead by downloading a map to find all the best spots or simply pick one up from stewards on arrival. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick look or making a full evening of it, the Winter Lights Festival is a brilliant way to brighten up January.
