Sunseekr London Pub Map Helps You Find the Sunniest Pints in Town

Every Londoner knows the routine. The clouds finally shift, the sun breaks through, and suddenly all you want is to sit outside with a pint in hand. However, finding that golden spot, somewhere you can actually enjoy the sun rather than the shadow of a nearby office block, is a challenge that’s all too familiar in the capital. That’s exactly where the new Sunseekr London pub map comes in.

Created by a local architect as a summer side project, Sunseekr is a live, interactive web app that shows you which London pubs and cafés are in the sun at any time of day. Not only does it track the position of the sun, but it also factors in the height of surrounding buildings, so you’re not fooled by a well-placed beer garden that’s actually in deep shade by mid-afternoon.

The tool uses real-time shadow simulation and open data to give you a clear view of where to go for maximum rays. Whether you’re planning a sunny spot for after work or just checking your options on the fly, Sunseekr allows you to set your preferred time and location to find where the sunshine will be. For those who’d prefer to avoid the heat, it also highlights places that are safely in the shade.

While it started out by highlighting cafés, the tool now includes pubs, with plans to expand further to include restaurants with outdoor seating. A mobile version is also in the pipeline, so you’ll soon be able to find your ideal sunny spot without needing to be at your desk.

It’s the kind of down-to-earth tech that Londoners love – useful, free, and just a little bit clever. If you’re looking for more ideas on where to soak up the atmosphere, EyeOnLondon’s guide to London’s top beer gardens might just come in handy.
