La Liebre wins 2024 Hot Wheels Legends Tour Global Grand Finale

The 2024 Hot Wheels Legends Tour, the world’s largest travelling car show, has crowned its global champion. During the virtual Global Grand Finale on 16th November, La Liebre, a home-built race car from Chile, was named the winner and will be inducted into the prestigious Hot Wheels Garage of Legends.

The victorious vehicle, created by the Cars and Coffee Chile team, triumphed at the Chilean leg of the 2024 tour before going on to secure the global title. La Liebre is a striking blend of classic design and modern performance, built around a custom chassis and powered by a 600-horsepower Chevrolet 350 engine. With a lightweight structure weighing just over 900kg, the car is designed for speed, incorporating advanced aerodynamics through its custom fibreglass body. Judges were not only impressed by La Liebre’s performance but also by its role in fostering the car culture in Chile.

The team behind La Liebre, including co-founders Giuseppe Casagrande and Maurizio Moschini, originally built the car to promote their nonprofit organisation, Cars and Coffee Chile. Their vision was to bring together automotive enthusiasts and grow the local car community. The car’s induction into the Hot Wheels Garage of Legends marks a major achievement for the team, whose dedication to the craft and the community has been pivotal to the car’s success.

Ted Wu, Senior Vice President of Mattel’s Vehicle and Building Sets division, praised the La Liebre project for its combination of impressive design and its mission to inspire others within the Chilean car scene. “The mission behind La Liebre is emblematic of what the Hot Wheels Legends Tour is all about,” Wu said.

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour, which has grown from a series of local events in the United States to a global phenomenon, visited 13 countries this year, including new stops in Colombia and the UAE. Over 5,000 vehicles were entered into the 2024 tour, with millions attending virtual and live events worldwide.
